Maxim's First Clean

Before starting, remove the protective pieces from Maxim’s bumper and station. Also remove any anti-moisture packs in the charging-station containers.

1. Prepare Maxim and power him on

First, install Maxim’s side brush. Place the side brush over the empty socket on Maxim. Press down to click and lock it in place.

Place the mop cloths over the mop attachments and secure them on their Velcro side.
Insert the mop attachments into the connection slots under Maxim. The magnets will connect and hold the mop attachments firmly in place.

Power Maxim on by pressing and holding the GO button until the screen lights up.

2. Prepare Maxim's charging station

Place the charging station in a central area with a strong Wi-Fi signal, on a hard, flat surface, 10 feet or more away from edges or stairs, and with plenty of space around it for easy docking.

Install the station ramp by pressing it into the front of the charging station. You will hear it click and lock into place.

To add cleaning solution, lift and remove the clean and dirty water containers to access the station’s cleaning solution compartment. Fill the compartment with Maxim’s cleaning solution. Close the cap and place the dirty-water container back on the station, making sure the container is fully in place and there’s no gap at the front, sides, or back.

To protect Maxim’s motors, only approved cleaning solutions should be used with Maxim. Compatible solutions can be found on the shop page of the bObsweep website or app.

To add clean water, pull the container’s latch straight up to open. Do not use force. The latch is fixed and does not flip or hinge open.

Fill the clean-water container up to the maximum fill line. To protect the pipes and filter, use distilled water if you are in an area with hard water. Close the lid and press down to lock the latch securely in place. Before lifting, test to ensure the container is shut tight.

Place the clean-water container back on the station, making sure the container is fully in place and there’s no gap at the front, sides, or back.

Your setup is now complete! The charging station’s LED indicator shines blue to confirm it is ready for Maxim to dock.

If the light is yellow, check the containers’ placement and water level. If the light is red, check the dust bag and disposal vent.

3. Charge Maxim

Maxim is only partially charged when first powered on; we recommend charging him for 3 hours or more before his first full cleaning cycle.

To send Maxim to charge, press the CHARGE button on Maxim and watch him dock.

You can also charge Maxim manually. Place him in front of the charging station with his back to the station, then slide him forward until the metal charging plates make contact.

Battery indicator modes:
- Low Battery: The battery indicator blinks rapidly
- Finding Station: The battery indicator blinks
- Charging: The battery indicator blinks slowly
- Fully Charged: The battery indicator shines solid

Important note:
- Maxim always returns to his charging station after cleaning. To increase Maxim's chance of finding his station, don't change its location once Maxim maps the space.

4. Connect Maxim to Wi-Fi

Sign up to create an account, and connect the app to your Amazon Alexa or Google Home device for voice control.

Follow the in-app instructions to connect Maxim to Wi-Fi and gain access to Maxim’s full suite of features and important software updates.

5. Map the floor

Equipped with Room-to-Room™ cleaning technology, Maxim explores, maps, and cleans your home in straight lines, avoiding furniture and obstacles along his path.

For the best mapping and navigation results, keep all doors open and remove any clutter before Maxim starts.

If you prefer not to wait for cleaning and mapping simultaneously, open the Map page, then tap Swift Map to let Maxim explore and map the floor in just a few minutes. This option works especially well if your space is large or has a complex layout.

Important notes:
- To avoid distorting the map, do not pick up Maxim while he’s mapping.
- Also avoid moving the charging station after mapping is complete.

6. Maxim’s mid- and post-clean refresh

By default, Maxim decides when to return to his charging station to freshen up. Based on multiple factors—such as the amount of dust and debris, detected soil level, and the size of the space—Maxim may return mid-clean to empty his dustbin, rinse his mops, and refill his water reservoir.

This process can be loud; however, it’s recommended to let Maxim freshen up as he sees fit for the first few cleaning sessions, as he will likely collect significant debris from under furniture and other hard-to-reach areas, and more frequent self-care may be necessary.

You can adjust Maxim’s self-empty and refresh-cycle settings in the app under:
Settings > Cleaning Preferences > Mop Auto-Clean and Self-Empty menus.

After Maxim completes a cleaning session, he automatically returns to his charging station, empties his dustbin, and begins the deep-clean cycle—rinsing his mops with heated water and detergent, then drying them. Drying the mops takes about 4–7 hours, depending on the drying mode selected in the app.

7. Charging station maintenance

The clean and dirty water containers both have over one gallon (4 Liters) of capacity.

Monitor the clean and dirty water containers regularly, and empty and wash the dirty water container frequently and before it fills up. If the dirty water container is full, water can no longer be drained and will sit in the tray. As a result, Maxim will not be able to operate.

Check the charging station’s tray. If it contains water or debris, remove the tray and wash all parts. Wipe the bottom of the station to ensure it is clean and dry, and remove any debris from the dirty-water extraction pipe.

8. Schedule Maxim
