Frequently Asked Questions

General

What do your products do?

It’s simple: we make mean, clean vacuuming machines! Our bots vacuum, sweep, and, in some cases, mop autonomously. A network of sensors help them navigate around your home and avoid obstacles like furniture and stairs. At the end of their cleaning sessions, our bots automatically return to their charging stations for a power nap. You can also set your bot to clean on a regular schedule.

What kinds of surfaces do they clean?

Our products clean both carpet and hard floors. However, they are not designed to clean shag carpeting or rugs with long fringes or fibers.

How much space do they cover?

bObsweep bots cover up to 1000 square feet in a single cleaning session. Depending on your space, they may need more than one cleaning session to complete cleaning your entire home.

Can they handle floor transitions?

Yes, our bots can handle floor transitions. They also detect the floor type and adjust their speeds accordingly. For example, when Bob climbs from hardwood to carpet, he slows down to pull the dust and debris out of the unsmooth surface.

Will they damage my furniture?

Our bots detect and avoid most obstacles and should not endanger your furniture.

How do I keep them out of certain areas?

You can set up digital barriers with blOck or blOck Plus. blOck Plus is included with Bob PetHair Plus, and blOck is included with bObi Pet. You can purchase blOcks for our other products on our online store.

How much do they pick up?

Bob PetHair Plus, Bob PetHair, Bob Standard, and Junior have dustbin capacities of 1100 mL. Bob PetHair Vision has a dustbin capacity of 600mL. Bob Pro has a dustbin capacity of 500 mL. bObi Pet and bObi Classic have dustbin capacities of 350 mL.

How often do I have to empty the dustbin?

Our bots can clean about six cycles before the dustbin is full.

How do pets react to them?

Pets react differently depending on their personalities. Some are scaredy cats; others are very furendly. Over time, pets tend to get used to their strange new living pawtner!

How long do they clean?

Bob PetHair Plus, Bob Pro, Bob PetHair, Junior, Bob Standard, and bObi Classic have average runtimes of 60 minutes. bObi Pet has an average runtime of 75 minutes.

How long does the battery last?

The battery lasts for about five years. All of our products come with a 2-year warranty on the battery.

Do your products come with a warranty?

Yes, all our products are covered by a standard 1-2-year warranty, a 2-year warranty on the battery, a 5-year subsidized warranty, and a lifetime of customer service. You can read more about our warranty coverage here and purchase additional coverage plans here.

How long do your products last?

Bob PetHair Plus

How do I turn this thing on?

Bob has a power switch on his side. If you’re using Bob for the first time, don’t forget to remove the plastic covering on the switch!

My Bob won’t turn on no matter what I do.

Try flipping Bob’s power switch OFF and back ON again. If that doesn’t wake him, then Bob most likely ran out of battery and needs to recharge. Place him on his charging station with the metal plates on his underside sitting on top of the nodes on his station. Alternatively, you can unplug the adapter from the charging station and plug it directly into the inlet above his power switch.

How long does it take for Bob to charge?

It takes about 4-5 hours for Bob to fully charge.

How much does Bob pick up? How often do I have to empty him?

Bob has a dustbin capacity of 1100 mL. He can clean about six cycles before the dustbin is full.

How long does Bob clean?

The exact runtime depends on the age of the battery and the type of surface Bob is cleaning. Generally, the smoother the surface, the longer the battery will last. When fully charged, a new Bob PetHair Plus usually cleans for just over an hour.

How long does the battery last?

The battery lasts for about five years. Bob PetHair Plus has a 2-year warranty on the battery.

Does Bob come with a warranty?

Bob PetHair Plus comes with a 60-day money back guarantee, a standard 2-year warranty, a 2-year warranty on the battery, a 5-year subsidized warranty, and a lifetime of customer service. The warranty covers the cost of the battery, non-consumable parts, and labor. You can read more about your warranty coverage and purchase additional coverage plans here.

Bob isn’t cleaning in a straight line.

Bob’s cleaning pattern may look quite different from the way a human would clean: he may spiral out gradually, follow along walls, or zigzag across a small area. It’s best to let Bob work in his own way, even if his movements appear odd. Moving him around, manipulating his movements, or picking him up may confuse him and disrupt his cycle. Rest assured, Bob will efficiently clean your home within the course of a full cycle—just check his dustbin for the evidence!

Can I pick Bob up?

You can pick up Bob and place him wherever you’d like him to clean. However, it is best to leave him alone while he’s cleaning, so you do not disrupt his cleaning algorithm.

Bob’s having trouble finding his charging station.

You may need to resync his charging station and/or relocate the station to a more accessible area. Make sure the station is placed against the wall on a hard, flat surface with plenty of space around it.

Help! Bob keeps getting stuck.

Bob is designed to maneuver around furniture of most shapes and sizes, but some configurations may confuse him temporarily. If you notice Bob is having trouble navigating around a certain area, you may have to make slight adjustments to your home. If you would like Bob to avoid a certain area, such as an area with lots of wires, you may use blOck Plus™ to create one or two digital barriers.

Bob's not picking up as much as he used to.

Bob will have trouble cleaning if his main brush is clogged or tangled with hair. Remove Bob’s main brush and clean it thoroughly from end to end to ensure that he’s working at his best. We recommend cleaning Bob’s brushes and filters about once a week.

I’m having problems removing Bob's brushes.

Remove any debris clogging the areas that attach the brush to Bob. You may use scissors to cut away hair wrapped around the brush. You may need to gently pull the main brush up or down to reach the corners, but do not force the brush out as this can damage it. It’s best to clean Bob’s main brush and side brush about once a week to prevent buildup.

Why is Bob beeping?

Bob beeps as he is entering standby mode and once every 2 minutes while in standby mode. To conserve his battery, turn his power switch OFF. You may also mute Bob’s beeping by pressing the MUTE button on his cover or FullCommand™ remote. Bob also beeps when he encounters a problem and needs assistance. In addition to beeping, he will identify the source of the issue on his screen.

Help! Bob just stopped cleaning and his screen turned off.

It’s possible Bob is in standby mode. If this is the case, press any button on his cover or remote to wake him. If this doesn’t work, try flipping Bob’s power switch OFF and ON again. If that doesn’t solve the problem, Bob might need a mainboard reset. To do so, flip his power switch OFF and plug the charging adapter directly into the inlet above his power switch. Let him charge for at least 2 hours to fully refresh his system.

Bob is telling me there’s “something funny going on” with one of his parts.

Bob lets you know the specific reason his work has been interrupted. If “something funny” is going on with one of Bob’s parts, consult the Troubleshooting Guide for solutions.

I think my Bob's broken. What do I do next?

Don’t worry, a customer service agent will work with you personally to ensure you have a healthy, fully functional Bob. To connect with an agent, call 1-888-549-8847 or email support@bobsweep.com. Our hours are Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. PT.

How do I know Bob is charging? How do I know he’s finished charging?

When Bob is charging, he flashes the battery bars on his screen and displays the word “charging.” When he’s finished charging, the battery bars remain solid and the word “charging” disappears.

bObi’s cleaning on her own even though I didn’t tell her to.

bObi will start up on her own when she is 1) scheduled to clean or 2) when she is on auto-resume mode. Make sure the current time and day are set correctly on bObi’s remote. To disable auto-resume, press the SET CLEANING SCHEDULE button on bObi’s remote. Then press STOP. “FFGO” will reset to the last time saved. If the main or side brushes are difficult to remove, it is likely because hair, string, or other debris have been caught in them and are clogging the areas where they attach to bObi. You can use scissors to cut the hair wrapped around the brushes until you are able to remove them.

Why is bObi beeping?

bObi beeps when she encounters a problem and needs assistance. In addition to beeping, she will display an Error Code (Er) on her remote, which lets you know the source of the issue.

Help! bObi just stopped cleaning and her screen turned off.

Like other electronic devices with a CPU (computers, smartphones, etc.), bObi may experience a momentary halt in her operating system. You can usually get bObi back to work by simply flipping her power switch OFF and ON again. If this does not solve the issue, bObi might need a mainboard reset. Leave her plugged in for at least 1-2 hours, even if she is fully charged, to fully refresh her system.

Does Bob come with a warranty?

Bob Pro comes with a 30-Day Money Back guarantee, a standard 1-Year Limited Warranty, a 2-Year Battery Warranty, a 5-year subsidized warranty, and a lifetime of customer service.

Bob’s having trouble finding his station.

You may need to relocate the station to a more accessible area. Make sure the station is placed in a centralized area against the wall on a hard, flat surface with plenty of space around it.

Help! Bob keeps getting stuck.

Bob is designed to maneuver around furniture of most shapes and sizes, but some configurations may confuse him temporarily. If you notice Bob is having trouble navigating around a certain area, you may have to make slight adjustments to your home.

Bob’s not picking up as much as he used to.

Bob will have trouble cleaning if his main brush is clogged or tangled with hair. Remove Bob’s main brush and clean it thoroughly from end to end to ensure that he’s working at his best. Click here to learn how. We recommend cleaning Bob’s brushes and filters about once a week.

I’m having problems removing Bob’s brushes.

Remove any debris clogging the main brush area. You may use scissors to cut away hair wrapped around the brush. The brush itself would also need a cleaning. Push the two tabs on the main brush frame and lift it up. Once the frame is removed, you can take the brush out for a thorough cleaning from end to end. When putting the brush back in place, be sure to secure the orange brush cap to the pin end of the main brush before installing. For Bob’s side brushes, they can be removed with a screwdriver for a cleaning. Remove any hair and debris that is wrapped around them before re-installing.

Help! Bob stopped cleaning with his top red light flashing.

Those would actually be his Trouble Blinks. When Bob stops, he will beep and flash his top light a number of times before beeping again. The amount of times Bob flashes his top light between blinks would be his Trouble Blink number. Each number up to 14 would refer to a certain part on Bob that is having trouble. Click here to watch a video on about each of Bob’s Trouble Blinks.

My Bob won’t turn on no matter what I do.

My Bob is not showing he is charging when I put him on the station.

Bob’s charge plates may not be lined up with the charge plates on the station. We recommend pressing the battery/charge button while Bob is a few inches away from the station to have him dock manually. When placing him on the station manually, be sure to leave a little space between Bob and the front of the station so that they’re not against one another, as this would cause the charge plates to be misaligned. Have Bob about an inch away from the front of the station. Bob’s battery light will flash blue when he is receiving a charge.

Is Bob recording with his camera?

Absolutely not. Bob will not record with his camera in your home. Bob uses his camera to map the layout of your home to determine his cleaning path. After each clean cycle, Bob will delete the previous cleaning map so no information or data is ever saved.

How does Bob Pethair Vision clean the different areas of my home?

Bob utilizes his top camera to map his cleaning path. Once he is started, he will clean your floor in a grid pattern. If he runs into an obstacle while cleaning, he will go into a wall follow mode to work around the obstacle before continuing on the grid pattern.

Can I pick Bob up?

We do not recommend picking Bob up during a clean as it will affect his current cleaning cycle map and may also affect his docking abilities when his battery is low and needs to return to his station to obtain more power.
